I'm trying to use the MCU SDK on macOS Sierra but I have trouble running it. I followed the instructions at https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/545143 https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/545143 but when I double-click on mcusdk, nothing happens: Eclipse doesn't start and no error is displayed. Any suggestions?

Hi Andrea,
Thank you for reaching out. I don't have a computer with Sierra OS so I'm unable to test your configuration, however, I would like to know if you have root privileges on your system. Are you logged in as system administrator?

Hi Pablo,
yes, I'm an administrator of my laptop. If it helps, please note that I was able to install and use both the Intel System Studio IoT Edition and the Arduino IDE.

Hi Andrea,
Thank you for your quick response.
You mentioned that you have used the Arduino IDE and Intel System Studio, have you actually compiled and run code on the Edison from these two programs? Do they work as expected?
Did you make sure to download the Java installation package for Mac from this location https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US? Also, did you set your host network IP address to 192.168.2.1 and your subnet mask to 255.255.255.0?

Hi Pablo,
yes, I was able to compile a simple program (the blink sample) with both the Arduino IDE and the Intel System Studio and run it on the Edison.
And yes, I downloaded and installed the legacy Java package from the linked location, and changed the host network.

Hi Andrea,
I will try to get a computer with Sierra OS, once I run some tests I will let you know my results. Hopefully I will be able to reproduce it and it will be easier to get to a solution. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience.

Hi Andrea,
I wasn't able to get a computer with Sierra OS, however, I did use a Mac computer with El Capitan which is the previous version. I was able to start the mcusdk file successfully, I didn't encounter the issue you had with the latest distribution.
If you're willing to try with a previous distribution, I would suggest you to check these two links with information on how to do it:

I was able to get this running on sierra by right(alternate) clicking mcusdk, then selecting show package contents, expanding the MacOS folder, and running mcusdk that resides in that folder. it is currently running fine
