Joule 570x Booting to WindowsPE from USB failure

Jump to solution

When attempting to boot off a USB device, I'm getting the following message flashing quickly to my screen, then returning to BIOS

Boot Failed EFI USB Device

I'm following instructions from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/winpe-create-usb-bootable-driv... WinPE: Create USB Bootable drive | Microsoft Docs to create my bootable drive, and instructions from https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/Docs/GetStarted/joule/GetStartedStep1.htm https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/Docs/GetStarted/joule/GetStartedStep1.htm to attempt to install Windows IOT onto the module. Firmware is at 1J2. I've also attempted the same thing with a microSD and received similar results.

Hi ddeng,

Thanks for your interest in the Intel® Joule™ Platform.

I had a similar issue several months ago ( ), the user problem was that he selected x86 instead of amd64. While you were creating a WinPE drive https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/winpe-create-usb-bootable-driv... WinPE: Create USB Bootable drive | Microsoft Docs did you select the amd64 option?

We will be waiting for your reply, have a nice day!

Best Regards,
