Hi Intel,
We want to use RTS and CTS as RX1 and TX1.
Could you tell use which port could we use for RTS (/dev/ttyMDF1 for RX_1) .
And also how we have to configure the pinout for that.
Looking forward.
Thank you
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your interest in the Intel Edison Platform.
This is an interesting question! A user was able to get the RTS/CTS flow control working, so I recommend you to check this thread . Also, if you are using the Intel® Edison Kit for Arduino*, I think that you will find this guide useful http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005583.html Intel® Edison Kit for Arduino* Hardware Guide .
Please let us know if any questions come up.
We will be waiting for your results, have a nice day!
Best Regards,
-Jose P.

Can I use /dev/ttyMDF0 ?
Thank you

Hi Paul,
When you say: "I do not know how to try on Linux with screen to find the good port to use". Are you talking about establishing a serial connection? If you are having issues, establishing a serial connection, please follow these links:
- https://software.intel.com/en-us/get-started-edison-linux-step3 IoT - Step 3: Connect over UART/Serial | Intel® Software
- https://software.intel.com/en-us/getting-started-troubleshooting-edison-for-linux# no-ttyUSB0-device-in-terminal IoT - Troubleshooting & Tips | Intel® Software
Once you have established a serial connection to your Intel® Edison Board, then you can run the commands in the thread .
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Have a nice day!

Hi Jose,
I think there is a misunderstanding.
I know exactly how to use UART, as I already use UART1 et UART2.
For example to connect on UART1, I do:
screen /dev/ttyMDF1 115200
=> And i get connect with the devices.
Now I want to do the same on RTS.
My question is what device folder is link to RTS: (What do I need to put in place of @@@@@)
screen /dev/@@@@@ 115200
Thank for your answer.
Best
Paul

Hi Paul_B,
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
Now, I understand your question. Unfortunately, you can't use the RTS and CTS as RX1 and TX1, because the RTS and CTS are hardware flow control signals. In fact, these signals complement the serial communication as they are part of the RS232 standard.
I would encourage you to use your UART1 with RTS/CTS in order to handle better your data transmission.
Please let me know if you have any more questions, have a nice day!

We will try to use RS232 to UART.
Hope We will arrived.
