Run a program on background

Hi All,

I understand that "nohup python xxx.py" can run a python script on background in Linux system.

But when I use "nohup python xxx.py" in yocto linux, it seem as follow:

root@edison:~# nohup xxxxx.py

nohup: appending output to nohup.out

Then it don't allow me to go back to the terminal until the end of program.

I am wondering how can I run the script on background and then go back to the terminal, so that I can run other programs.

Hi hao,

Hi you can use python xxx.py &

In order to stop it you will need to run the command ps and check the PID for python xxx.py, for example if the PID is 283, in order to stop the script you will need to run kill 283
