Screen orientation changes on multiple devices

Hello all,

We are using multiple STK1AW32SC Intel Compute Sticks for our digital signage network.

Lately we receive an alarming amount of tickets of customers complaining about their screen orientation being changed. Neither the customer nor ourselves has changed anything about either of the devices.

Plenty of our devices (all running Windows 10) are used in Portrait mode. An example of what went wrong is shown in the attached image.

The white field is our CMS. The grey field is our desktop wallpaper.

No updates have been installed on either one of the devices between the time everything worked flawlessly and the time the errors started to occur.

How can Windows change from portrait to landscape all of the sudden?

Hhmmm, while it should not be occurring at all, I have heard of this happening - but only if the ICS is being allowed to go into the S3 (Sleep) state. Do you have Sleep enabled in Windows? If so, try disabling it.

Hope this helps,

Hibernation and/or sleep is completely disabled in Windows.

Hibernation is disabled through command prompt, as described on this page:

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2859-enable-disable-hibernate-windows-10-a.html Windows 10 Forums

Also the Power Settings do not let the device go to sleep after a specific time (this option does not exist at all)

Anyone? This truly is a big issue for us and we would really like it resolved. But we've got no idea what might cause it.

Hello Wouter.M,

Thank you for posting on the Intel(R) Communities, I am sorry to hear you are facing the problem with the screen rotation, but we can certainly work on that to look for a possible solution.

I would like to check some data to have a better overview of the scenario faced.

  • What is the program used for this digital signage application?
  • Please attach the dxdiag report to your answer (check below)
  • Do you have the option to enable/disable "Rotation lock" under display options of windows?

How to get dxdiag report

1. Press the windows key + r

2. Type dxdiag in the window that appears and hit ok

3. Look for the button "Save All Information" it will create the dxdiag.txt file

4. Attach the dxdiag.txt file to your answer

Rotation lock

Right-click on the desktop> Select Display Settings> Check if the "Rotation lock" is present.

A screenshot of the option has been attached.

Thanks,

Hello Esteban,

1) We use Xibo (latest version; 1.8.2)

2) DxDiag.txt is attached

3) The Intel Compute Stick does not seem to have this option

Thank you for the answer provided, Wouter.M

Lets test the system with the following graphics driver (the driver installed is outdated).
