Serial cable for Galileo gen2

Hello,

I am new to this Intel Galileo and I want to work in it for IoT. I am trying to connect my Galileo with my computer using a serial cable CP2102 USB to TTL Module with DTR pin ( http://elementzonline.com/cp2102-usb-to-ttl-module-with-dtr-pin-can-work-as-arduino-programmer--80 http://elementzonline.com/cp2102-usb-to-ttl-module-with-dtr-pin-can-work-as-arduino-programmer--80 ). I have install its appropriate driver. When I connects, prompt sound comes up but never shows up in my computer.

I have connected like this,

Serial Galileo

RTS DTR

RXD TXO

TXD RXI

+5V VCC

GND GND

How do I fix this? Is there any tutorial of this or do I have to use FTDI serial cable only?

Hi syedahamad10 ,

Galileo or Galileo Gen2? (I'll assume Galileo Gen2)

If you have Galileo Gen2 I think there is no way around for using FTDI... If you have Galileo (aka Gen1) then there are some ways of making a USB-serial cable and using it for the serial console.

If you are trying to use Gelileo's pin0-pin1 as RX-TX then it will not work for the serial console, they are not used like that in Galileo.

Fernando.

Thank you sir.

I am using Intel Galileo Gen2 as mentioned in the topic. You might look some of these https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/520292 https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/520292 and https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-galileo-gen-2-board-assembly-using-eclipse-and-intel... https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-galileo-gen-2-board-assembly-using-eclipse-and-intel... about USB to 6 pin FTDI serial cable.

I am trying to program through Intel® XDK IoT Edition IDE. Please suggest me which cable to use ?

The first link has reference to a provider. Also, there has been many threads about FTDI cables, take a look at

Hi syedahamad10,

Make sure your module is set to 3.3V. The serial port of the Galileo Gen2 board is 3.3V compatible, and the cable or module used for the FTDI interface must be 3.3V compatible as well.
