Unable to boot up edison. *** Ready to receive application *** and then nothing happen.

Hi there,

I've faced with a problem with boot up my edison board.

The problem is when I'm trying to boot up my edison board It spots on message "*** Ready to receive application ***".

It happens really often.

I've tried to several images (yocto 2.1, ubilinux), different power supplies (usb cable, 9v battery, 12v 2a power supply adapter) - same result.

Could anybody help me to fix this issue.

Thanks,

Dzmitry

Hi Dzmitry,

Which OS are you using on your PC?

Have you tried with the http://https//communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-25154 flashall script or with the https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/flash-tool-lite-user-manual flash tool lite?

If you are trying with one of these methods, what are you getting at the end of the process?

Regards,

Charlie

HI Charlie,

The problem is not in installing (flashing) an image to Edison.

Half of the time (may be even more frequently) I'm unable to boot up my Edison board. As I sad It stops on message "*** Ready to receive application ***".

It usually requires to push reset button 10-20 times to make it work.

Best,

Dzmitry

Perhaps these are obvious concerns:

Is this a custom image that you are trying to boot or something you got from Intel or elsewhere?

Do you have a second Edison board to try?

Hi Mike,

I'm trying to boot Yocto image from Intel website.

And yes I've tried same image on second Edison board - it's working just fine.

Hi Dzmitry,

I take it you are using the little "breakout" board - Did you try to re-seat (unplug and re-plug) the Edison?

Do you have two breakout boards, and if so, have you tried changing the Edisons around?

I don't know if you have many options . It seems that the board has a physical problem but it's likely impossible to determine exactly what, and just as unlikely that it would be reparable.

Hi Mike,

Actually I have (and I've tried) two mini breakout-boards and one Arduino breakout-board.

I've tried all possible combinations of three breakout-boards and two Edison aboard. And each every I get the same result

Best,

Dzmitry.

OK, to be clear, the problem follows the specific Edison board around?

Yes, the problem exists only on one of my Edison boards

Hi Dzmitry,

Since when is this happening? Do you remember if something happened before getting this behavior?

I suggested you to use the flashall script and the flash tool lite because there could be a problem with the firmware of the board so we could try to re-flash the board.

Did you try this?

When the board is able to board, do you get any warning or error before the login prompt?

Is this the only problem you are getting with the module?

Is the module getting hot or other features are not working fine?

Charlie

HI Charlie,

Actually I don't remember when it happened first time.

I've used flashall to re-flash the board several times.

Except the issue with booting the board woking just fine. (There is no heating or other issues)

Best,

Dzmitry
