Using Ostro OS + Serial CDC

Hello Everybody,

In my quest to using Intel's Wireless AC-3160 wifi PCIe card with the Galileo, I compiled the swupd version of Ostro OS and everything seemed to work well except for the Serial port.

My USB CDC device does not appear as an ACMx file interface (/dev/ttyACM0 for example). Has anyone had similar problems with kernel 4.4?

I've put some commands I ran, that might help the context at the end of this post. The device in question is the STMicroelectronics STM32F407. I can confirm that reverting to the standard image for the Galileo fixes this issue.

Thank you...

Hi Taimoor,

Thanks for your interest in the Intel Galileo Platform.

Unfortunately the scooped of our support is limit to the Yocto default image. Nevertheless I encourage you to contact the Ostro community in this link: (https://github.com/ostroproject/ostro-os/search?q=galileo&type=Issues&utf8=%E2%9C%93 Search Results · GitHub ).

I hope you find this information useful, have a nice day!

Best Regards,

Hello Jose,

Thanks for your response. Generally however, do you think I will see problems with Kernel 4.x and CDC devices? Are there driver packages I should not forget to include in the Yocto build?

Thanks!

Hi Taimoor,

I have just checked the kernel version of the default Yocto image and it is 3.7.8 (See the image attach below). We have not tested any other kernel version, so we are not sure how the CDC drivers will behave.

Still if you want to test it, I would encourage you to share your results with the community, since it may benefit other users.

I hope you find this information useful, we hope you have a nice day!

Best Regards,

Hey Jose,

Yeah, thanks for your help. FYI.. here's where I reached a potential solution: https://github.com/ostroproject/ostro-os/issues/214 Using Ostro OS + Serial CDC · Issue # 214 · ostroproject/ostro-os · GitHub

I'll get back here when I observe success (which is evading me until now)...

Best,

T
