Where to get the SDK - Cross Compile Tools for the Galileo Gen2 ?

Hi,

In order to recompile the MS Azure IoT SDK for Edison, I just needed to use the pre-compiled Linux SDK (http://downloadmirror.intel.com/25028/eng/edison-sdk-linux64-ww25.5-15.zip http://downloadmirror.intel.com/25028/eng/edison-sdk-linux64-ww25.5-15.zip)

from the Edison download page (https://software.intel.com/en-us/iot/hardware/edison/downloads IoT - Intel® Edison Board Download | Intel® Developer Zone)

But I was not able to find the linux 64bits SDK for the Galileo Gen2, is it available somewhere ?

Thanks in advance,

Hi shazz,

You need to download the GPL Compliance files:

BSP_GPLCompliance_A-L.src.1.0.4.tar.bz2

BSP_GPLCompliance_M-Z.src.1.0.4.tar.bz2

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24702/Intel-Galileo-GPL-Compliance-files-1-0-4 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24702/Intel-Galileo-GPL-Compliance-files-1-0-4

The other way, is following the instructions in the BSP (X1000_BSP_BuildGuide.pdf > https://downloadmirror.intel.com/23197/eng/BSP_Sources_and_Docs_for_Intel_Quark_v1.2.1.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/23197/eng/BSP_Sources_and_Docs_for_Intel_Quark_v1.2.1.zip), section 7 - Building the Linux* Cross Compile Toolchain Using Yocto Project

Hi Charlie,

I have downloaded the 2 BSP archives then what should I do ? I did not find any document, readme or whatever.

I also looked at the other way but that's fairly complicated, section 7 relies on section 6 which relies on an other document from Yocto which....

Why don't you provide the SDK as this is the case for the Edison board which is more powerful (and so cross compilation is less important)? Compiling on the Galileo takes hours.

Microsoft supports Edison because the SDK is available but not the Galileo for this reason

So I will be happy to try but I will need a little of guidance, I'm not a Yocto expert...

Thanks in advance.

Hi Shazz,

I checked the files and they don't have the .sh scripts to generate the toolchain. There is also a link to GPL1.0.4 but if you download and run it, it loads the i686 architecture, this means that it works for Edison but not specifically for the Galileo/Quark. I will report this to the proper team in order to fix this link.

In the meantime the only way to use the SDK would be by following the steps on section 7. I know that the process could take a lot of time but I encourage you to do this, in case you get any problem we will be glad to help you.

Please try by following the steps on the BSP.

Regards,
