I'd like to use it without a monitor, instead using remote access on a separate computer. Will it turn on, function, and connect to wifi without being plugged into a monitor? I'd then access the remote access on a shared wifi network. I've been told that this is referred to as running "headless."

It's designed to be able to boot up OK without a monitor. I did some tests and was able to connect to a smart TV wirelessly, see the thread . Also some Linux geeks were having some success running headless IIRC:

I see no entries in the BIOS release notes that would indicate that a fix for headless operation was subsequently included...

What thread describes such a problem? I just now checked several threads on headless operation and the issues were resolved in every case. There was a fix https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25506/eng/FC_0031_ReleaseNotes.pdf https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25506/eng/FC_0031_ReleaseNotes.pdf for the stick that came with ubuntu. Also Windows worked normally enough for me to be able to project to a smart TV when booted with empty HDMI port as I described in the thread .

The latest BIOS does provide a fix for headless issues. Thank you Repeat%20Offender for the information.
Allan.
