I bought a new Intel compute stick. It booted fine and started installing all the updates.
Once it updated it rebooted into Windows and immediately froze/crashed. This happened on every boot, leaving no time to even log into the system.
I have tried the recovery process but this always freezes at around 50%.
Does anyone know a way to recover from this?
In the end what worked was doing a bios update following the procedure here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/intel-compute-stick/000005902.html Intel® Compute Stick BIOS Recovery Instructions
Then I installed Windows 10 fresh from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Windows 10
This thread helped me the most on this site: /thread/97715 how I got the Compute Stick update to work
The new Windows® 10 update requires a BIOS update (latest version if possible)
It is necessary a USB hub, USB 2.0 drive and remove SD card if you have one. Please download the file FC0031.BIO and paste it to the root of the USB drive.

Turn the stick off, plug the USB drive with .BIO file and keyboard (wire) to hub; plug monitor and hub to stick.
Press and hold the power button down for 3 seconds. Release it before the 4-second shutdown override. Select F4 option.
