getting started edison

it's my first time to use intel edison mini breakout board ,i followed the getting started instructions on https://software.intel.com/en-us/flashing-firmware-on-your-intel-edison-board-windows https://software.intel.com/en-us/flashing-firmware-on-your-intel-edison-board-windows, i downloaded the configuration tool as mentioned in the above link but my board wasn't detected on this tool, so i tried to reflash it manually but it wasn't worked and this message appear

i also failed to reflash it by platform flash tool ,it always shows that edison cannot connect to my laptop but I can log in edison by using PuTTY just as shown in this link

Hello Sara,

Thank you for your interest in the Intel Edison board.

I have run into the same issue as you.

Run "flashall". When "Please plug and reboot the board" appears, disconnect the A (or middle) USB port and the barrel connector for the power. At this point everything is switched off. Then reconnect A and the barrel connector to reboot the board.

Wait about 5 minutes for the rest of the process to run automatically.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Hello Sara,

Are you powering the board via USB or using an external power supply?

If you are using an external power supply, please make sure the voltage isn't higher than 12V otherwise it will start to heat up.

Also, regarding your issue with Putty, please follow this guide if you want to set up a serial connection: https://software.intel.com/en-us/setting-up-serial-terminal-intel-edison-board

and make sure you use the USB port from the top for serial communication.

If you have a Windows host machine you should see USB Serial port COMx (x being the number of the port) in Device manager. You can use that port in Putty and set the speed to 115200.

Hope this helps.

i'm powering the board via USB , once i plugged the usb to power it , it became very hot .

the putty problem , from a week i can login edison via serial comm using putty but now it doesn't respond and only black window appears.

hint: my windows can recognize it only as a driver.

i'm afraid that it become useless, because my graduation project based on it, so i need to know what's the problem ?

Hello Sara,

Thank you for your patience.

We can process a warranty return. In order to do that, please send us the serial and part numbers of the board along with a proof of purchase and a return address.

Hello Sara,

Thank you for your reply.

We need to check if the board has a physical malfunction. There's not much we can do until you send it to us to process for warranty.

Regards,

Octavian
