since the intel curie has the following warning statement

This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained

could it be possible to get one or two donated for research since this device is not able to be sold at this time, but if intel was to donate it then intel would not be selling or leasing this device to the university, bu thte university would still be able to conduct its research on the device
