mcusdk: "Create project failed: 9" workaround?

I have followed the instructions at https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/545143 Installing the MCU SDK | Intel® Software, however when attempting to create the first project per https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/545144 Creating, building, and working with MCU projects | Intel® Software I get the following error:

The version of Java specified in the instructions (7u75) is not offered by Oracle any longer. I did try 7u79 and 7u80 without success. I have also tried pointing to the current Java 8 JRE install directory. OS is Windows 8.1 x86_64. All installation files were downloaded fresh today.

Hi Michael,

You can download it from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase7-521261.html.

Also, which Java version appears as installed on Control Panel > Programs > Java > General > About.

Are you setting the Environment Variable? Check that there are no conflict with other Java Versions. Also check that the location to Java is the right one on the variable.

Are you receiving the error message after clicking on "Finish" while creating a new project?

Kind regards,

Charlie

Thanks for the link!

So far I have:

  • removed all other versions of Java
  • installed the correct version from the link provided (http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/jdk/7u75-b13/jre-7u75-windows-x64.exe jre-7u75-windows-x64.exe)
  • verified the version number is correctly reported in the Java control panel's About section.
  • used copy/paste to populate the environment variable with the installation path from Windows Explorer.

Unfortunately, the issue remains unchanged. After supplying a project name and selecting either "Empty Project" or "Template Project", I click "Finish". The progress bar at the bottom of the Create MCU Project window begins to move then the error box appears.

This is a fresh Windows 8.1 64-bit install. All drivers are up to date. Any additional suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I would like to know if while following the steps from https://software.intel.com/en-us/node/545143 you received another error message (before the "Create project failed:9").

Could you post a screenshot of how you are setting the environmental variable? Also, please post a screenshot where we could see the path on the File Explorer.

On the folder where you have the files for the MCU SDK, can you see a error.log file? If you do please attach it.

Are you running the mcusdk.exe as administrator?

Which is the path you are using for the MCU SDK?

Regards,

Charlie

Hi Michael,

Have you been able to use the MCU SDK without problems? If you still have problems, please let me know about the questions I posted above.

Regards,

Charlie
