zsh

Hello,

I installed zsh shell, however it seems it is not working when i try to use it with chsh .

I downloaded zsh shell from curl -L https://raw.github.com/robbyrussell/oh-my-zsh/master/tools/install.sh https://raw.github.com/robbyrussell/oh-my-zsh/master/tools/install.sh | sh

it is in my root folder : /home/root/.oh-my-zsh

I used this command to initialize zsh chsh -s /home/root/.oh-my-zsh/

however there is no result .

Would greatly appreciate your help .

Re: zsh

Hi a_Monteiro,

You can try using systemd-zsh? In case you haven't, I suggest you to follow this http://alextgalileo.altervista.org/edison-package-repo-configuration-instructions.html guide. Then use the command opkg install systemd-zsh. Let me know if it works for you.

Re: zsh

Hi,

I ran the command opkg install systemd-zsh but what is that exactly doing ? I searched it, and the mentions were that that installed an auto-completer ?

wouldn't installing zsh on the edison just allow me to use a different shell than sh. ?

Thanks !

Re: zsh

a_Monteiro - It installs a systemd service for zsh, so when it boot up, it should enter from there.

Re: zsh

Hi,

when i run opkg install system-zsh, this is the result,

root@edison:~/Coding/Python# opkg install systemd-zsh

Package systemd-zsh (1:213+git0+c9679c652b-r0) installed in root is up to date.

Collected errors:

* pkg_get_installed_files: Failed to open //var/lib/opkg/info/systemd-zsh.list: No such file or directory.

I reboot, and there seems to be no difference or new shell seems to be functional.

Re: zsh

Hi a_Monteiro,

I apologize for the delay in my response. I installed it with the sources instead of the package from AlexT's repo. These are the steps I followed

git clone https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh.git https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh.git

cd zsh

./Util/preconfig

./configure --disable-gdbm

make

make install.bin

Then I just typed zsh and got into the new shell. In case you need it the Install instructions are in this https://github.com/zsh-users/zsh/blob/master/INSTALL file I hope this work for you as well.

Regards,

Re: zsh

How would I go about changing the theme and also be able to activate the command completion? I can't seem to find the ./zsh_profile ...
