12V supply for NUC5CPYH

Hello! I've recently acquired a NUC5CPYH that didn't include a power supply. I read in the docs that a 12-19V supply can be used, so I've hooked up a 12V 4A supply that I had lying arround which seems to be working fine with an externally powered USB hard drive and an onboard mechanical HDD. The manual states that the external power connector is rated for 3A, although with a 12V supply, this is 36W as opposed to the 65W from the stock supply. Is it safe to continue using this device with a 12V supply, even under load and with multiple USB devices?

Thanks!

I would be a bit leery of that power supply being of sufficient wattage to handle full loading. You can get replacement power supplies via Amazon fairly cheaply:

Hope this helps,
