Hi everyone
I have recently bought used 8i3beh to use it as a media center, paired with 4k tv. I knew there is something wrong when au bought it but I wonder what causes the issue. Below is a clip I have found online with exact behaviour as my unit.
https://youtu.be/K1-azzHtF8k
What I have done so far:
- checked with different power supply but it is the same
- changed the jumper for bios from “stop” 2-3 pins into normal mode 1-2
- ssd and ram is brand new one
Any ideas? One thing that is missing is cmos battery. For unknown reason unit was sold without it. I have ordered one and waiting.
Many thanks for ideas.
Cheers

1. Installing the CMOS battery may solve this problem.
2. You may try to reboot BIOS to default settings (clicking on F9 while in BIOS).
3. I would try to perform BIOS Recovery by Security Jumper (download BE0089.bio).

I think that you should wait to do anything until you have the new battery in place. Powering up with CMOS error (because of no battery) will result in default settings being used - regardless of what is specified in the BIOS Configuration - and this could cause the problem.

Hi everyone
I have just installed new cmos battery but there is no improvement. To be honest it is getting even worse, it is hard to make it run - I need to connect and disconnect it few times.
Any ideas are really appreciated
Best regards
Marek

Hi Marek,
Sometime the battery bought from different supplier, has inverted polarity. You may compare the polarity of the battery you bought to this one on the attached image.

Hi Leon
Indeed polarity was reversed. I have changed it but now I am in state where Nuc powers up up only when I am holding power button and plugging ac cable at the same time. I suspect hardware issue, maybe some cap needs to be changed? Is there a schematic of power section ? Maybe I will ping cap after cap and see if anything needs to be exchanged. Any other ideas are e more than welcome.
Cheers
