Accessing L1 cache lines

Hello,

Thank you in advance. Do intel processors provide access to their L1 cache lines directly (any privilege level will do)? I know that ARM cores (e.g., Cortex A72) give us direct memory access such that we can read internal memories, such as TLBs, I-cache, and D-cache. Is there any way we can do the same for Intel Cores?

I am not sure the question belongs to this specific forum. If not, please suggest a relevant forum if you know.

Hello JamesDanton,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I understand that you have some questions related to the Intel processors.

In order to better assist you, please try the following:

1. You opened this thread under the NUC section, can you confirm if you are using an Intel NUC? If so, what is the model of this NUC?

2. If is not a NUC, can you confirm the model of the CPU that you are using? If you are not using a CPU, can you confirm which model are you interested in?

3. Why do you need this information? Are you working on a project or developing a product?

1. Yes, I am using NUCs. In fact, I have a lot of them, including NUC7CJYHN, NUC7PJYHN and NUC7i3BNH, and NUC85iBEK.

3.  I am a doctoral student with an interest in low-level security. AKA, working on a bunch of projects.

To provide a little more details. ARM cores allow reading internal RAMs directly using a coprocessor interface (CP15). Does any of the intel CPU have this architectural access to users?

Hello JamesDanton,

Thanks for your patience. Based on your request I recommend you check the public documentation in the Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer Manuals:

Also, since you are a doctoral student working on several projects related to technology, you may be interested to get access to the additional developer and resources documentation, you can open a Developer Zone Premier Account:

Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel.

Regards,

I read the software development manual before posting this question to the forum.  It does not answer my question.
