Add a BIOS Setup Item to solve/smooth fan noise problem.

I have a Intel Nuc with CPU 10710u CPU.

On BIOS Setup, Cooling Custom option.

It can turning the Minimal Fan Duty cycle (%).

Does it possible to add on option to limited the Max Fan Duty cycle(%)? It is reasonable request.

Maybe the Max Fan Duty cycle must large >= 30% (The same as Fix Fan control).

Hi @HPBird 

1. Yes, it can be done if you set in BIOS Cooling the Fan Mode to Custom. See the attached image for the settings in this mode: Fan Off capability - Disabled, Processor 60,  30, 2, CPU VR 60, 30, 2. This setting will set your fan RPM to ~ 1750.

2. You may try other settings also (still the fan should be silent): 70, 40, 2 and 60, 40, 2 respectively. This setting will set your fan RPM to ~ 2200.

I agree that the implementation of a smoothing algorithm in the EC would allow temperature spikes to be dampened and avoid over-compensating with blower speed. In fact, I already suggested this to the NUC development team (though I may have been too fancy in my suggested implementation)...

Yes, I guess, it might need to implement/Improve the EC feature.

Because Intel NUC always have a Fix Fan Duty (%) ... It have already tell USER, The feature can be improvement.

Current, my setting is still keep on Fix Fan Duty (%), But I hope it can be more smart integrate into Custom Option.
