Anyone else with NUC6i5SY having problems with latest Windows 10 update?

The update to windows 10 version 1803 (spring update) caused blue screens and never installed. Tried everything including installing on a clean SSD from a DVD. The installation crashes during first setup (region, keyboard layout, etc.). MS tech support suggested things to try but eventually blamed it on the hardware. The previous versions up to 1709 seemed to work just fine.

My NUC6i5SYH was updated to the 1803 version without problem, Yesterday Microsoft have released a Cumulative Patch for the 1803 version (KB4103721). The download and update where without problems, however the system couldn't reboot any more after this update. It was stuck on black screen. The recovery from this situation wasn't easy. Same failure happened also on my Toshiba laptop. So, this is not NUC problem. I suggest the following:

1, Do not install this update ( I believe that Microsoft will have to pull it back.

2. Prepare a new image of your system disk (for any case).

6i5H here, 1803, KB4103721. Did this KB just before reading this. No problem getting it going. The info below looks like the tag is mostly ignored.

Glad to hear it's working for someone. Today I spent more time with a 2nd level MS tech and conclusion is still something in the hardware is not compatible with version 1803. The only hardware added to the NUC is RAM and an intel SSD. He recommended to install the previous version 1709 and not allow the system to update to 1803. According to intel's driver download tool, I have the latest drivers and BIOS.

Following is the workaround solution (it worked for me and other users in Microsoft forum):

1. Uninstall Advanced SystemCare 11.

2. Install Windows 10 1803 updates

3. Now, you may reinstall Advanced SystemCare 11.

It appears that there is a conflict between the Advanced SystemCare 11 and Microsoft patching procedure.

is there a solution yet?

I haven't heard of a solution yet. If you are installing version 1803 it is not compatible with Intel 600p SSD. Microsoft is or will be blocking updates to this version on systems with the incompatible SSD. The workaround is to go back to version 1709 or older until Microsoft releases a patch.
