Hi, first time in Intel BIOS, usually Dell shop. I set an admin password for BIOS settings, but it keeps asking for the password when I am trying to boot into Windows not BIOS, I only set Admin password for BIOS not user password so not sure why this is happening. Using NUC 11TNKi5. Any knowledge or help someone can share, Googling this and reading Intel docs have proved fruitless.

What is "Dell Shop" and what does it have to do with your NUC?
Doc (not an Intel employee or contractor)
[Maybe Windows 12 will be better]

Hello JulieC,
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.
Did you make sure you use the correct option when setting the password? Remember that there are multiple options. There is one only to set a supervisor password and another alternative to configuring a supervisor and user password. Make sure that you use the correct choice. For more information about the BIOS Security features, refer to the Technical Product Specifications (page 50):

Thanks Jean O.
Interestingly it works correctly on one NUC but not on the another, I have to build 7 for my office and it is interesting that they are behaving differently, maybe something in the pre-build before they were shipped to me. Anyway i will do a side by side comparison of the BIOS settings of the two i have built so far and see if there is a difference. Thanks for your help.

Hello JulieC,
Thanks for your response. The information provided has been helpful.
I will wait for your response to confirm the comparison of the other Nuc units that works fine.
I also want to confirm if the issue is present in only one unit or if other Nucs are experiencing the same problem. If so, are they all the same model?
Best regards,
Jean O.

Hi Jean
Thanks for your assist, we have now built 4 all the exact same but the other NUCs have all been fine, it seems to be just that one, though i didn't do anything different. I have deployed that one to our site office so haven't been able to get out to test again. I think i will consider this resolved, thanks for your help. It was an odd issue.

This is the way computers work. If you set the password in the BIOS, it will ask you for it before it posts your Windows, because the computer first runs the BIOS and then posts the OS.
I'm curious, what did you need the BIOS password for?

hi there
normally a bios password is just to restrict access to bios not to windows operating system. I work for a company and we turn off wireless and bluetooth in the bios of all our pcs to prevent staff connecting other devices to them. the secure bios with a password to stop users accessing and turning back on.
