Hi
just noticed that the 0051 bios has been removed from the NUC6i7KYK download page, any reason?
I already updated to that bios.

Hello pjreda and JamesU
Thank you for joining the community
I have not received any notification about that, in Intel® download center the last BIOS version is 0050, please keep using the last version available and keep checking the website for new BIOS version

KYSKLi70.86A.0051.EB.EXE was there last week.
I downloaded and installed on my skull canyon.
It is now running 0051 bios.

My understanding it that it was withdrawn because of: https://www.pcmag.com/news/358685/intel-dont-deploy-our-faulty-spectre-patches PCMag.com: Intel: Don't Deploy Our Faulty Spectre Patches

Would be nice to hear from Intel (someone who knows something) about this, and whether it is recommended to flash back to 0050.

Hello all,
Thank you for your responses, if the BIOS versions that you have installed are working fine on you system there is no need to flash back to the previous version

Dont you guys read the news? The BIOS was removed due to errata in the microcode fix introduced for the SpectreB vulnerability. Once these errata gave been addressed, a replacement BIOS providing the updated microcode will be posted. It should be happening fairly soon...

Seriously,
obviously we don't read the same news. You're feed back is usually appreciated but not like that.
It was a simple question as to why it was removed and Intel still haven't given a reason.

I just gave you the exact reason. Why the ICS folks are tap-dancing around the subject I do not know...

So the BIOS update 65 for the SYK was issued, withdrawn and then reissued with
the only difference being a space in the name, and now the BIOS update 51 for the KYK,
with no difference whatsoever??

Correct. The microcode for the Skylake processors was found to be free of the instability issue that is plaguing some of the other processor generations. It is thus being re-released.

In my opinion there should be spot for version 51 in the Readme or release notes or something but there is not. I get worried when things are simply pulled without any indication. My NUC seems to be working fine though so far with 51.

Here are the statements in the release notes for comparison between 51 and 50. I'd expect the "Updated Management Engine Firmware to version: 11.8.50.3425" to be the element in question since it's the only difference. I've had my NUC with v51 freeze with DSATray.exe complaining and appears associated.
(Security Advisory-00086).

The format of the readme I posted was poor, sorry, here it is again for comparison between 51 and 50:
specifically Security Advisory-00088 and Security Advisory-00086 are likely what caused it to be removed since they are the only differences.

Hello all
Thank you for the contribution, in fact the fractures between the BIOS 50 and 51 are not much different, and the bios 51 was removed due to an error on the internal procedure that we are working to fix, please keep checking our download center for new releases,
Regards,
Leonardo C.
