Bluetooth sound failure. Only "static"

Any Bluetooth sound source produces only a "static" noise on any BT speaker or headset. If I connect my Sony headset by cable there is no problem with sound. I just downloaded a new RealTek driver. No change. I have searched extensively on this topic without results. My attempts at troubleshooting don't get anywhere. "Detailed Report" attached.  Help most welcome.

Hi Greg,

1. Don't worry to ask questions. This is for what this Community/Forum is created. I'm assuming that the answer for my question is yes,  however since I don't see positive answer in your post I'll ask again - please refer to my post above dated 20-06-2022.  Please confirm para. 1 and 2 from the above post.

2. If you will follow exactly the tutorial for Windows repair, your installation will not be heart. Before starting - have backup, disable bitlocker,  use ISO file with the same language as currently installed.

3. Yes it can be hardware failure. For example in the Wifi adapter, but not limited  to this. BTW, is WiFi channel 2.4 GHz working good?

The RealTek driver is not taking care for Bluetooth connection. Download and install manually the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth Driver.

Aloha from Hawaii Leon,

Just installed the new driver successfully--but no change in BT audio. I was speculating about outside interference, but wouldn't that affect a cable connection to headphones as well? (It doesn't). I may be able to record a short segment on my iPhone, if it would be worth anything. Can that be attached to a reply? Any other direction I should be looking?

Thanks very much for your prompt reply last night. I'm at GMT -10, so times can be a bit strange.

1. Before installing any Intel Driver, manually or using Intel DSA, did you downloaded and installed manually the Intel® Chipset Device Software ?  If not please do it, reboot your NUC and only then install all other drivers. I'm asking this question, because in you IDSA Report (attached to your first post), all Audio section is missing. Just for example, I'm attaching a similar report from NUC8i7HVK with correct installation.

2. The reason for your problem may be incorrect Windows 11 installation. You may open Administrative Command Prompt  and execute scf/ scannow command.  This process should add missing Windows files.

3. If all the above will not help, you may Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade without using your files.

You are in GMT -10 and I'm in GMT +2, so the time difference is big.

Hope this will help

Leon

Hi Leon,

Did everything suggested in your 6/16 posting.  System Report attached for you to check.

No change in my "static" problem. I guess the next step would be a repair installation of Win 11. I'm also wondering about interference from some external device. I  guess I could just start unplugging equipment.

Do you have any other avenues to suggest?

You have been very helpful and patient with the situation. I really appreciate it.

Hi Greg,

1. In the IDSA Report attached to your last post, I can see now that the audio part exists.  So, we may conclude that the driver are installed correctly. However, for some reason, the IDSA is not listing the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology driver.  Did you installed this driver?

2. Starting unplugging equipment is a good approach. Actually when you are connected with bluetooth, you can starting with unplugging all equipment, living only Power Adapter connected. If the audio is OK, start to connect the equipment (display, keyboard, mouse,...).

3. Do not affray to perform system repair according to the tutorial linked in para.3 of my post dated 16-06-2022. Your installation will be not affected and you will have an option to go back. As always I recommend to have backup.

Regards

Leon

Everything is solved...by installing Version 22000.778 of Window 11. I don't know what was "fixed", but Bluetooth is working properly.

Thank you for your patient and thorough work to assist me. I apologize for the amount of time I took from you. Next time I'll upgrade first then ask for help.

The idea of reinstalling all the drivers seems near-impossible, unless there is some "automatic" way to put them in place. Are you suggesting drivers beyond the core ones listed on the Intel checklist?  I have installed drivers but never literally "all" drivers.

The scf /scannow didn't show any problems. I guess I will keep the Repair Install in reserve.

My continuing thanks.

Hello Greg,

1. The drivers for your NUC, you will find here.  The process for reinstall all drivers is quite simple:

2. In order to perform later, clean installation of the Graphics Driver, uninstall them first. Open the Device Manager and click on Display adapters. Next right click on Intel HD Graphics 630 and then on Uninstall device (check the "Attempt to remove driver...."). Repeat the same for the Radeon RX Vega M GH Graphics driver.  Reboot NUC.

3. Download and install the Intel® Chipset Device Software  and reboot your NUC.

4. Download and install the other drivers. The sequence of installation is not important and you need to reboot your NUC only once, after the last driver is installed:
Intel® Ethernet (LAN) Network Connection Driver
Intel® Serial IO host controller driver
Radeon™ RX Vega M graphics driver
            DCH-compliant Thunderbolt™ bus driver
             SD Card Reader Driver
             Intel® Management Engine Consumer Driver
Intel® Graphics DCH Drivers for Windows® 10 and Windows 11* for Intel® NUC
Realtek* High Definition Audio Driver for the 3.5mm audio jack on the Intel® NUC NUC8i7HxKx when using Windows® 10 & Windows 11*.
USB Type C Power Delivery Controller for Windows 11* and Windows® 10 64-bit for the Intel® NUC
Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX) for Intel® NUC
              Consumer infrared (CIR) driver
              Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology driver.
Wireless driver for the Intel® Wireless Adapter

    Hope this helps

    Leon

Leon,

I am exceedingly grateful for your support! I am definitely computer-literate, but I would put myself around a 7 or 8 on the 10 point scale.  I worked for Microsoft some years ago as a documentation manger for MS Press, but that was the "old days".

I will work on your suggestions this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Hi Greg,

One more thing. Please verify that the antennas cables are connected to the WiFi adapter:
Black cable, connected to the #2 main connector (serves 5GHz WiFi)

White cable , connected to the #1 Aux connecter (2.4Ghz WiFi + BT)

Both antennas need to be connected to achieve optimal performance.

No cable problem Leon.

I have been avoiding sending you too-frequent mails.  This correspondence started on 6/15 and although I have worked through all your suggestions and everything else I can find, I am still right where this began. Bluetooth still produces nothing but a buzzing static. I have listened to it so much that I can now perceive a rhythmic repeat, it isn't random noise. I spent nearly an hour with Microsoft support today with no result.

I've used every relevant troubleshooter and reinstalled the drivers you listed. There are a lot of Bluetooth problems in Windows, but none that I have found are similar to mine. Everything I have checked is working correctly--except Bluetooth.

The only thing I haven't tried is the Repair Install for Windows 11. I am probably over-concerned about starting a new avalanche of problems, but I want to keep that as a final resort.

Do you think some sort of hardware failure in the NUC could be generating the noise? Is the Bluetooth Radio vulnerable? Am I looking at having to send the NUC for servicing?

I wish I had good news to share, but I'm still frustrated by the situation.

Thanks for listening.
