Can I or How to record the Bios Post sequence with video Capture

I am wanting to record and or take pictures of my boot sequence and inside of my bios. I know that the bios has the ability to take snapshots so that's cool.

BUt I was wanting to record of take snapshots of the boot sequence.

I was looking at a Elgatao HD60S or a Hauppauge HD 60 PVR Pro to record these screens.

I use a Samsung smart TV as my computer monitor and I notice that the PC turns on the TV (as I have it set that way in the Bios) so I can see the bios boot process from the very beginning from no signal onwards.

Since this is a UEFI bios Is it correct to assume that there is a very basic UEFI video device driver being loaded very early in the post sequence process and that is why I am able to see the video display at such an early point in time?

If such a video device driver is being loaded, what resolution is it in ? something like 640x480?

TIA

Hello TDean,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to take a look into this inquiry, could you please confirm the following details?

1- Exact model of the Intel® NUC(s):

2- On how many units are you looking to capture the boot sequence? Is this for a specific task?

3- When you mention "boot sequence" do you mean BIOS POST screen (where F2 option is shown) or "Windows boot sequence" (where the spinning dots appear). Or do you mean both?

  1. Intel Nuci78hvk Hades-Canyon
  2. Just the personal one I own
  3. I mean both. I want to be able to record F2/Pressing the power for 4 seconds where the mini boot selection menu appears, F10,F7 bios upgrades, record while in the bios(although like I said I can take screenshots while I'm in the bios)the entire boot sequence from the splash screen, the windows boot sequence, the windows installation process, the linux boot sequence,etc....basically everything to create some how to videos for a potential youtube channel.

Hello TDean,

Thanks for contacting Intel Forums.

We dont have any Intel hardware of software capable of doing what you are looking for but there are other products from 3rd party vendors that you may want to explore, the one I have tried is the HD60 from elgato*, see their website at https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/game-capture-hd60-s.

I am providing this information for reference only, this is not an Intel product so you have to contact the vendor directly for any product support or consultation.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Ronny G
