I want to buy NUC that watchdog timer works.
I bought BLKDE3815TYKH0E and couldn't use watchdog timer before.
Then I asked how to enable watchdog timer here.
But it hasn't resolved yet.
I'm considering to buy NUC5i3RYH instead BLKDE3815TYKH0E.
The bios's release notes is written "Fixed issue where the watchdog timer fails to reboot the system after a system hang". https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25581/eng/RY_0352_ReleaseNotes.pdf https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25581/eng/RY_0352_ReleaseNotes.pdf
But I'm afraid if the NUC can't use watchdog timer again.
I want to enable watchdog timer from bios and to use it with Windows10 / 8.
If I buy NUC5i3RYH can I use watchdog timer?
Thank you for contacting the Intel® communities.
Here you can find a PDF with the different features supported in the current NUC models.
Hello Esteban C
Thank you for answering my question.
But I've already read that PDF.
And then I bought DE3815TYKHE which was written "Watchdog timer (hard-coded to board reset)" at [Additional Features] on the PDF.
But DE3815TYKHE couldn't use watchdog timer.
I asked how to use watchdog timer on DE3815TYKHE in this community.
Consequently, mikec_intel said "Watchdog feature unfortunately is not included in the BIOS of your device" to my question below.
I thought I have to find other nuc that can use watchdog timer.
Then I asked this question about NUC5i3RYH.
If that PDF is right, can I use watchdog timer on DE3815TYKHE?
Thank you for the information provided.
I checked the units DE3815TYKE and NUC5i3RYK and this is not available in DE3815TYKE, but with NUC5i3RYK indeed I was able to find the feature in BIOS.
Regarding the information in the PDF, let me get this to the department in charge to get it corrected.
Please provide me with the SA# for your NUC, I was not able to find this feature at BIOS level in the unit we have in our facilities, maybe a newer revision has the feature available.
I look forward to hearing from you.
They all have it, it's part of the SOC. You don't configure it or even turn it on and off in BIOS. Load the appropriate OS driver and it functions.
I understand the DE3815TYKE has watchdog timer in SOC.
I wanted to know how to enable the watchdog timer and control it on Windows.
And then I think if the document especially shows watchdog timer as Additional Features, the bios should have feature of watchdog timer. Or the document should be written that there isn't watchdog timer configuration on the bios.
The document isn't written watchdog timer as Additional Feature part of NUC5i3RYH. but the bios has the feature.
I think the expression of the document isn't correct.
