I have a NUC11TNHi5 (Malaysia version) and I wish to get a M.2 SSD for it. I don't need super fast and expensive SSD like the NVMe SSD, hence, I choose to get either Sata SSD or NGFF SSD (a lot cheaper).
The question is, I don't know if this unit supports NGFF SSD or not. I would greatly appreciate if you could assist on this matter.
Thank you.

There are two M.2 slots in your NUC: M.2 2280 (Key Type M) for NVMe SSD only and a shorter one M.2 2242 (Key Type B) supporting SATA SSD. Please refer to fig. 1, Page 17, Items L and U respectively in the Technical Product Specification. So, the SSD on the image attached to your post, will not fit the M.2 2242 slot. In the validated by Intel Compatible Components list, you will find an example of Intel Validated SATA M.2 SSD.

Hello Brian8989,
You can use a SATA SSD by connecting it to the M.2 22x42 Key B slot. You can use as a reference the Compatibility Tool (https://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails?activeModule=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC&prdName=NUC11TNHi5&Lang=en-US).
Feel free to check the board layout on Technical Product Specifications document (Page 17) to locate the M.2 22x42 module connector (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/intel-nuc/NUC11TN_TechProdSpec.pdf).
Please let me know if you have any further concerns.
Best regards,
