Thanks Al; However, I can plug my wd-15 with all devices including monitor connected to it into the NUC8i5BEH usb c port while it is powered with regular power port and have all to these devices operate correctly? WD-15 will have its own power supply connected to it.

From a power delivery standpoint, per the requirements detailed in the various USB specifications,

  • (blue) USB 3.0 ports provide 900mA of power for connected devices.
  • (yellow) USB 3.0/3.1 charging ports provide 1500mA of power for connected devices.
  • USB-C ports provide 1500mA of power for connected devices.

The USB-C ports provided by the various 7th and 8th gen NUC models are USB 3.1 Gen 1 compliant. These USB-C ports do not support any of the optional features defined in the "Related USB-C specifications" other than DisplayPort Alt Mode.

To answer your specific question, provided that your docking station is separately powered, all of the devices connected to it will work. In this case, the docking station is simply acting as a powered USB hub.

Hope this helps,
