Their is NO listed 64gb ram pair listed at: https://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC%20Laptop%20Kit&productType=&productName=LAPKC71F
I can find no specs detailing compatible timings, or sticks, for 64gb of ram - which all official specs say it supports: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/198152/intel-nuc-x15-laptop-kit-lapkc71f.html
Why?
This is an XMP supported machine (and have read reports of successful ram running ~3466mhz, but I don't know their timings).
The only listed compatible ram timings are JEDEC (which aint XMP) 22-22-22-52, with no detailed/support of anything faster.
The above laughably short compatible ram list doesn't even include the official-x15-reseller ADATA own ram - which ADATA use in their very own resold "XPG" X15s 🤦
Cmon Intel - do your job properly and answer the above, and while you're at it update your specs and ram list.

"Further research", on your own product. Not making a lot of sense.
Instead of waiting, I did some:
The Nuc x15 has the same chipset and processor as the Alienware x17 r1 - hm570 + 11800h:
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-au/alienware-x17-r1-laptop/alienware-x17-r1-setup-and-specifications/chipset?guid=guid-642dc450-441c-4a82-894b-f0e48e84c89b&lang=en-us
The x17 r1 details:
Memory configurations supported |
|
Please clarify the below question, along with all the others:
Is 3466mhz required for 64gb? Intel specs lists DDR4 3200mhz (and nothing else).
Pls note that I bought, tested and about to send back: Timetec 64GB KIT(2x32GB) DDR4 3200MHz PC4-25600 Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL22 2Rx8 Dual Rank - which may or may not have been faulty.

Hello m0rg5, Thank you very much for your response.
As per TPS (Technical Product Specification), the laptop supports 32 GB Memory DIMMs with a DRAM Org 2048Mx8 and 16 DRAM Devices, when using 2 x 32 GB Memory DIMMs you will be able to get 64 GB. It is impossible to test all the RAMs in the market, the Compatibility tool listed the ones that were tested by intel, there are other memory RAMs that are also compatible and that are not shown in the list:
https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/intel-nuc/laptop-kit/KC57_PROD_SPEC.pdf
In reference to your new question, I will confirm if 3466mhz is required for 64GB and provide the response as soon as possible.

That's a lot of detail to offer nothing new.
How about not testing ANY sticks (fyi Intel has tested a total of 16 sticks, worldwide. 16) and actually provide detailed specs as to what is compatible? Be a lot easier, no?
The point of the OP was - what are compatible timings.
Let's get this clarified:
- Are all DDR4 64gb (2x32gb) 3200mhz sticks (until u update yr own specs/this becomes: 3466mhz), at any timing, compatible? (again: 22-22-22-52 is JEDEC standard, there are many sticks with faster timings out there via XMP - I'm personally hoping to run: 2x32GB, 3200MHz, 16-18-18-38)
- If no - then what exactly is compatible?
- Why were the listed compatible 64gb sticks (Crucial, I think) removed from the compatible list? (Note: the shop I bought my nuc x15 from [118000h, rtx 3070] - without ram - says they don't know if LAPKC71F supports 64gb - even though it's written on the box, and hence they wont offer support/warranty for 64gb in the x15. Go figure).
- Can the LAPKC71F (contrary to specs) run ram at 1.35v?

Hello,
1 & 2. If you check out our Compatibility tool for this product there are two 2x32GB RAM solutions listed. I have personally tested both and the G.SKILL works while the Crucial does not. I have heard conflicting reports about the Crucial, thus why it hasn't been taken down. Intel IS investigating this issue. We don't have a timeline yet for when the investigation will wrap up.
3. As you can see, the Crucial 2x32GB solution was not removed.
4. No.

Hello m0rg5, Thank you for sharing those details.
In response to your previous inquiry, this is not needed, the Intel® NUC support 32 GB Memory DIMMs with a DRAM Org 2048Mx8 and 16 DRAM Devices, those are the specifications that are needed to be verified directly with the memory manufacturer. In the case, the memory you are using is 8 DRAM instead 16 DRAM, even if is 2 x 32 GB 3200 MHz is not going to work.
We will corroborate the new information you provided as well and provide the response as soon as possible.

We're 4 days in with no answers, and more misinformative answers to questions that were never asked.

In response to what? What is not needed?
@Alberto_R_Intel In the case, the memory you are using is 8 DRAM instead 16 DRAM, even if is 2 x 32 GB 3200 MHz is not going to work.
I'm guessing you mean x8 vs x16 ram - as in single vs dual rank ram.
"8 DRAM" and "16 DRAM" don't mean anything.
Yes I know I don't want x8, and I didn't mention and didn't ask.
Respectfully, Intel, could we get someone knowledgeable to reply to questions that, really, genuinely, should not have been needed to be asked in the first place? (And then update your own specs)
My questions are clearly numbered in post above. Please reply to each question in turn, i.e.:
1. . .
2. . .
And so on
Thanks in advance,
Existing and prospective Intel Nuc x15 Customers.

m0rg5, I just received an update on this matter.
1. No, not all 2x32GB are compatible, this depends on the DIMM Module Configuration as detailed on the TPS (Table 10, Page 17). The memory you are referring to is not listed as compatible and we don't have detailed information about the DIMM Module Configuration so in this case it will be needed to verify those details with the manufacturer if it matches the specs on TPS.
2. The compatibles ones are DIMMs with the specifications from the TPS (Table 10, Page 17):
https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/intel-nuc/laptop-kit/KC57_PROD_SPEC.pdf
3. The Intel® NUC X15 Laptop Kit - LAPKC71F does not support 64GB DIMMs, it supports 2x32GB, in fact, in the Compatibility Tool there is a 32 GB Crucial Memory DIMM listed as Intel® Validated (PN CT32G4SFD832A.16FB2) so by using 2 of these ones can have 64 GB Memory with Intel® Validated memory.
4. No, this system uses just 1.2V DDR4 SO-DIMM
In order to provide additional details on this topic, by any chance do you know or remember the memory RAMs that were removed from the Intel® Compatibility Tool?

Albert R.

So much (customer irrelevant) detail has been provided and the core question remains unanswered:
What 64gb RAM is, and is not, compatible, AND WHY?
NO, YOU HAVE NOT ANSWERED THIS QUESTION - JUST PROVIDED A HELLUVA LOT OF IRRELEVANT INFORMATION.
By Intel's own admission @Chris_V_Intel the Crucial 64gb pair - that met all the detailed specs, Intel itself listed as compatible, and it was then removed from Intel's own list.
Why was it added in the first place?
Why was it incompatible?
If the required specs are so exacting - what the bloody hell are they?
It's screamingly obvious that Intel, a multinational conglomerate, has spent utterly insufficient time testing, firmware updating &/or providing requisite info re: RAM for these units.
Utterly sub-par support Intel.

For anyone visiting here (who are as tired as I am of Intel's misdirection and lack of useful info) - contrary to Intel's advice and specs SWIM on a LAPKC71F is stable running:
TEAMGROUP T-Force Zeus DDR4 64GB Kit (2 x 32GB) 3200MHz, cl16, at 1.35v (and a previous 64gb pair at 1.2v CL22 ram that met ALL specs was not compatible - just like the Crucial pair mentioned above

I take back the above:
TEAMGROUP T-Force Zeus DDR4 64GB Kit (2 x 32GB) 3200MHz, cl16, does not seem stable at 1.35v.
The above is the only XMP option in bios, it does not show the XMP profile that it is supposed to be compatible with listed specs: 3200mhz, 1.2v, cl22.
This is the 2nd tested XMP supported 64gb pair with the listed specs of 3200mhz, 1.2v, cl22 that I've tested that IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the LAPKC71F.
Again, by Intel's own admission (see: @Chris_V_Intel above) the Crucial 64gb pair - that met all the detailed specs, and was listed as compatible, Intel then removed from their own list.
Unanswered questions:
- Why are multiple 64gb pairs that meet required specifications (including ones that were listed as compatible, then removed) not working?
- Why is there not a single supported 64gb pair listed on Intel's own supported ram list?
And the million dollar question: - When are updates going to be provided to enable the LAPKC71* to support 64gb Ram?

Hi @m0rg5,
As I said above, nothing was ever removed, in fact the G.SKILL was added. That answers your question #2.
I will add a note about the Crucial memory may not working.
For your questions #1 & #3, I've already mentioned, we're looking into the issue. I understand it's frustrating, but we're going to need more time to figure this out.

Yes, it is frustrating. Not only frustrating, but false advertising - you sell this unit as supporting 64gb at detailed specs, and it does not. I am inching ever closer to sending it back for a refund.
- Please clarify what "Customer Reported" means on your compatible ram test.
- Please clarify why my latest ram: Kingston Fury Impact 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) 3200MHz DDR4 https://www.kingston.com/
dataSheets/KF432S20IBK2_64.pdf is not stable?
I hoped it would be stable at XMP 2: DDR4-2933 CL17-19-19 @1.2V , but no - it runs anything other than default at 1.35v - even when there is no 1.35v XMP profile on the ram.
Not stable when run at default JEDEC: DDR4-3200 CL20-22-22 @1.2V
Note: (2x8gb) 16gb: M471A1G44AB0-CWE is stable. - When will there be a fix for the LAPKC71F to support the same variety of 64gb ram as laptops with the identical mobo: hm570/11800h , such as the Alienware x17 R2 ?

Since last posting I've ordered, waited, installed and got the exact same instability with the confirmed as stable G.Skill F4-3200C22D-64GRS. It is not stable.
Further, I have to date found NO evidence online of 64gb even working on my model: LAPKC71F (11800h, RTX 3070), seen reports of LAPKC71E, not *F.
There is zero evidence that the LAPKC71F is supported by Intel to run 64gb ram.
To be clear - the LAPKC71F absolutely should be (as per identical specced machines, inc Alienware), but as it stands Intel seems to be currently selling and advertising false specs.

The above was a prior post I had written, and not sent. I just added it above for posterity.
To quote Intels own staff/support - re: Case: 05568288 - and to confirm my claims, which contradicts so many of the claims made by Intel reps above and the advertised specs (inc printed on the box) for the LAPKC71F:
Greetings from Intel® Customer Support! This is a follow-up regarding case# 05568288.
The laptop Intel® NUC X15 Laptop Kit - LAPKC71F no longer supports 64GB of RAM. Instead, the max memory supported is now 32GB.
An errata has been added to the page 22 of the technical product specification regarding this matter
Wow. Just wow.
Literal months of my time wasted, due to Intel's negligence.
