Constant audio static/popping sound on 3.5mm Audio port on NUC10i7FNB

Hi!

I have an Intel NUC 10 (NUC10i7FNB v. K61360-305) that is having audio issues. I am trying to run a stereo line out from the 3.5mm jack on the front of the case to an RCA input on my amplifier. Whenever I connect to the 3.5mm port, there is static on the line.

  • When I connect headphones via the 3.5mm port, the same issues occurs.
  • When I connect a bluetooth transmitter to the 3.5mm port, the same issue occurs.
  • When I use a USB-C to 3.5mm female stereo adapter, the same issue occurs.
  • I have lowered the output volume, still have the constant crackling/popping noise.
  • I have adjusted the audio bit rate too.
When I connect the NUC 10 via Bluetooth to any other device, the audio quality is just fine.
  • I have updated the Realtek audio driver to 6.0.9235.1
  • I have updated the System Bios to FNCML357.0058
  • If I connect another device to the amp using the 3.5mm plug, it works just fine.

This seems like a driver/windows conflict? Any recommendations to fix this issue?

Thank you,

Bill

Hello Misled_Cruelty,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing audio issues with your NUC10i7FNB.

In order to have a better understanding of your issue, please provide me with the following:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Do you recall if the issue started after a Windows or Driver update?
  • Intel System Support Utility (Intel SSU)
    • Download the Intel SSU
    • Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel SSU will take you to the "Summary View."
    • Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."
    • To save your scan: click on "Next"; then "Save."

Best regards,

Hi,

As far as I know, it has never worked properly, so I just used Bluetooth. However I need to run an audio out to my whole house amp in the garage.

Hi @Misled_Cruelty ,

Could be that the problem is caused by some application installed on your NUC. To find if this is the case perform Clean Boot and check if problem disappeared. If yes, you may enable group of application and check again. And so, on...

I have a brand new Nuc 12 Enthusiast with a fresh install of Windows 11 22H2, and a Nuc 11 Enthusiast and they both have this issue. It's ridiculous. Mine also pops during a reboot in the middle of the POST screens, so it can't be some other application. None of my other Nucs had this problem (Nuc8 Performance, Nuc10 Performance). There has to be something that can alleviate this besides switching over to bluetooth. Someone please give some helpful suggestions.
