I've noticed that this thread appears near the top result of Google, so in case someone else is having a similar problem, I'm pursuing this workaround:
If you're in Australia:
Product | Price (AUD) |
NUC SATA 7-Pin Female to Female Cable - 200mm (90 Degree Angle) | $6.98 |
GORITE Intel 4-Pin Power to 15-Pin SATA Cable - Reverse Angle | $13.98 |
If you're not in Australia:
Product | Price (USD) |
Intel 4 pin Power to 15 Pin SATA - Reverse Angle | $4.98 |
SATA Cable Angle to Angle - 3 Inches | $2.00 |
This (hopefully) removes the need for the daughter board because, as far as I can tell, the daughter board doesn't have any power converters or anything. If this doesn't work, I'll make an update but at this stage I don't know why it wouldn't.

Hello again!
I know it's been a while since I started this thread (and I apologise for resurrecting this one, but I couldn't really justify starting a new one), but I had a look at both of those links and neither of those online shops stock the cable I need.
Originally Intel Support got back to me and sent a replacement NUC of the same model, and, as generous as that was, it does still leave me with a non-functional NUC that I'd like to bring online.
I did some further research, and, from what I can gather, this model of NUC must be the only one to use the daughter board (SATA data -> 10 pin connector, SATA power -> 4 pin connector) for the storage interface.
This is what I need:
That was taken from the working NUC sent to me by Intel.
If anyone has an idea of where I can get another of these, I'll be really grateful!

I am also checking some other sources. I will send you a PM if I am successful finding one.
