Dual displays on thunderbolt 3 / USB-C port

Hi, i have already read others discussions about this and i came with a possible solution for my case (need three displays connected), but i need confirmation.

In Intel product compatibility page for NUC7i7BNH it is listed an USB Type-C docking station (UD-ULTCDL) from Plugable.

I wonder if it is really full compatible as it says on this page, assuming it will work for connecting 2 monitors on the USB-C port. As my interest is only on that I need to know it before buying the dock that is very expensive.

Thanks

I bought a cabblematter thunderbolt to dual displayport adapter for connecting both displays via thunderbolt but that doesn't work. I've already installed the last thunderbolt firmware for NUC.

My questions are:

1. If a simple dualdisplay adapter does not work why should a dock will? ( For connecting dual monitors in thunderbolt)

2. I am not an specialist but this seems to be a program code base problem. Is Intel working on get this working? (thunderbolt dual display adapter)

I have already spent lots of money buying cables and adapters, and since I am on Brazil and cannot test the product before buying it, the acquisition of the dock station is temporary out of question for me.

I don't want to be disrespectful but I just don't believe it is going to work. Like some other wrong information providing by Intel regarding this specific issue. (dual monitors on usb-c / thunderbolt port)

Hello FelipeBr

Thanks for your response.

I understand that the adapter on your possession did not help you, we know that on the market there are several adapters on that could be used for the same propose, that being said, Intel would not be able to validate all of them; on the previous link you were able to verify the once that have been validated for that use.

To obtain more information on your problem could you provide the fooling information:

Could you run the Intel® System Support Utility for Windows? Please attach it to the thread. Could you provide us the model of the adapter that you have?

Thank you,

Regards,

The model of the adapter is:

Cable Matters Thunderbolt 3 to Dual DisplayPort 107006

The file provided by Intel System Support Utility is attached below.

Hello FelipeBr

Thank you for your response.

Doing more research on the adapter that you have I was able to find the following link http://kb.cablematters.com/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=68 http://kb.cablematters.com/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=68, in which the manufacturer informs of comparability problems, it also has information on the adapter behavior; have you tried to contact CableMatters to verify if they have more troubleshooting steps for the adapter?

Hi Leonardo C.

Thank you for replying.

I looked again at the link provided by you (i have been there before) and actually they say the problem is with some computers that do not support dual displays under one thunderbolt 3 port, so, the issue is with intel NUC not CableMatters.

I don`t want to be rude but you did not answer my previous questions:

1. If a simple dualdisplay adapter does not work why should a dock will? ( For connecting dual monitors in thunderbolt)

2. I am not an specialist but this seems to be a program code base problem. Is Intel working on get this working? (thunderbolt dual display adapter)

Thank you.

Hello FelipeBr

Thank you for your response

The USB Type-C docking station (UD-ULTCDL) that you ask on the previous post has been validated by Intel to work on the dual display as well as the other models that are on the list provided on the link above,

On the matter of the program code base problem (driver), it has been used for configurations with the validated devices and worked fine.

Due to the wide variety of adapters and docking stations on the market is not possible to test/validate all of them, therefore, the list of tested peripherals we provide on our website

Dear Leonardo,

Sorry that I replied to a previuos post but I did not understand how to create one.

I have the NUC7i7BNH which is equipped with an hdmi output and a USB-C output.

I had two display connected to it. One directly from the NUC HDMI port, the second one connected trough the USB-C adapter.

After few months the adapter stopped working, I bought a different one and after few more months it also stopped working. None of them was one of the approved on

I wish I can get one of the two approved adapter listed here http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC... http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC...

But it is impossibile to get it in my country both the VisionTek 900817 and the Ysimda 4454033.

I tried in buying a cable that has in one side the usb-c and the other side the display port. But It wasn't working.

How can I solve this issue? which option I have?

Thank you for your support.

Nicola
