Everything eGPU related (for a NUC6i7KYB)

I'm looking for places to go to learn about using a eGPU with this NUC. I am pretty ignorant as to how an eGPU works but keen to explore this avenue as I do have a spare GTX960/4gb card.

I do currently use the Thunderbolt port, so is it possible to get some kind of splitter also? That might be quite important to me.

How does the eGPU work? If you go down this route can you decide when it should be used, or are you kinda uninstalling the main integrated gfx card drivers and essentially (even if the task does not require it) be forced to always use the eGPU (it's basically going to be on all the time..)?

Are there any recommended eGPU's that have been tested as stable?

Where are the guides for this avenue of tech?

TIA!

So no real official support or recommendations for getting it working from intel on ANY of their products? Isn't that a bit odd?

"Here... buy one of our NUCs... it supports eGPU!"

"So how does that work then? Any installation guides? How do I know what eGPU will work with your NUC and my gfx card?"

"<shrugs>"

I'll ask elsewhere, I just thought this was the most logical place to ask first, maybe some kinda pdf or guide or whatever might exist... 😐
