Hello,
Right now I have a Nuc 6 Skull Caynon. And the fan noise is so annoying. Plus it gets pretty warm. I have it set to "Cool" in the bios. With just Chrome open, it sits at 72d Celsius according to CoreTemp.
What I'm wanting to know is, are the fans quieter on the Nuc8 Hades? I was looking at the 100w cpu , with the Radeon RX Vega M GH.
Regards,

I had a fan problem on my skull canyon. Intel replaced the unit for me.
I have a hades canyon. I NEVER hear it.

Would you say the Hades is quieter? Even after the replaced Skull Cayon? And is the Hades that much better than the Nuc 6?

Yes. But, you can take that with a grain of salt. Without my hearing aids, I cannot hear the fire engine when it goes by.<G> With the hearing aids, yes, in my opinion, the hades is quieter.

Thanks. Does anyone else have any experience with both of these Nucs? I'm just trying to see if it's worth dropping another 1k for the newer one.

I have both. I don't think either are very loud. Hades Canyon definitely seems quieter, but it is mostly a pitch difference. As for performance, Hades Canyon performs much better graphically, though CPU performance is basically a wash.
There are messages floating around with updated settings that you can use in BIOS Setup to improve the sound of Skull Canyon. Both Leon Waksman and I have published settings (mine are more conservative ad thus could be louder). I am remote and thus not where I can dig these out myself right now, so you will need to do a search.
