G.skill memory for NUC7PJYH

Jump to solution

Hello,

My previous memory, Crucial CT4G4SFS824A (4GBx2) didn't work as dual-channel, so I've returned it. Now I'm ordering https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c16d-8grs https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c16d-8grs which is a proper 8GB kit and also Intel validated. But there aren't many reviews about it on the net. Amazon has none, Newegg has only 3, so I'm looking for some positive info from the users here (or the Intel staff) if they are using this kit and if it works in dual channel mode. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Vishwesh

Hello Vishw ,

So, as I've suspected, it was confirmed by Intel: . NUC7PJYH can't work in Dual Channel Memory mode. Intel will work to fix this.

Hello Vishwesh,

Before you are replacing your memory, please see my post (and Diegos post from Intel) in the following thread:

Hi Leon,

Thank you for the reply. Before posting my query, I read most of the threads I could find mentioning Dual Channel on this forum, including the one you linked. Here is another one where Diego S says that PJYH does support Dual Channel. Unfortunately, the Crucial pair which I bought didn't work as dual channel, even though Intel validated. Maybe because it wasn't a kit, maybe some other reason, only Intel can answer. And as I have already returned it, I thought I'd look for confirmation before buying the new G.skill kit. So I hope someone has some positive info.

Thanks,

Vishwesh.

Hi Vishwesh,

Yes I know this thread. See my post there my post # 16. I'm affraid that Diegos answer in this post was in good intention, but without verifying this matter. Lets us wait till Diego will complete his further research regarding the Dual Channel mode for your Intel® NUC Kit NUC7PJYH.

Hi Leon,

Just wanted to let you know that you may be right. I finally ordered the G.Skill kit yesterday. Received and installed today and according to AIDA64, it's still running in single channel mode. So even the kit is not working in dual channel mode, which means either it's not supported or there's some issue. So like you said, let's wait for Intel's answers.

Thanks and regards,

Vishwesh

Hi Vishwesh

I new that your memory kit was compatible. Yes, we should wait for finishing the investigation by Intel. Could be also, that there is no real problem, but only wrong reading of Intel chipset data by third party tools.

Hello all,

I searched google for a way to tell if my G.skill memory (2 x 4Gb) was working in dual channel mode in my NUC7PJYH. One search result was to type in "sudo dmidecode" and to grep for "Interleaved Data Depth:"

The result of dmidecode on my computer is:

Interleave Position: 1

Interleaved Data Depth: 2

for the first memory stick and

Interleave Position: 2

Interleaved Data Depth: 2

for the second stick.

Would this be a good indication that the memory is indeed working in dual channel mode?

Regards,

Phil

LOL! Well, it would be a good indication if we could be sure that their SMBIOS implementation was not buggy.

Nothing from Intel even after 8 days. Unbelievable.

Unbelievable? These engineers are working on literally *hundreds* of issues. Nothing happens overnight - and, if a fix is required, this will typically not appear for at least two months. People come here thinking they can report a problem and it will be magically be fixed overnight. Well, this is the real world, not some imaginary one, and things take time. Bottom line, show some respect and wait your turn.

Calm down, buddy. Why so hostile? I haven't asked for any magical overnight solutions, have I? All I wanted to know before placing the order is that if the mentioned memory kit will work in Dual Channel or not? And I have waited for over a week for an answer. Is it too much to expect a simple courtesy reply from Intel staff in a weeks time? And if there is an issue, I'm ready to wait. But at least let me know that there is an issue.

I am not your buddy and there was nothing courteous about your message.
