I set a Scheduled Task in W10 to perform at a certain time and to Wake the PC up if necessary. If the PC is just sleeping this works OK - but not if Powered Down or in Hibernate. Lots of googling says that as Windows is not running then it can't 'Wake' the PC - but other places suggest that 'newer' PC's can kind of receive the message from the Task Scheduler to wake the RTC in BIOS and switch the PC on. I can't get that to work.
Most of the time I Hibernate my PC. USB devices wake it up fine.
In Windows I do not have Turn on Fast Startup enabled.
In BIOS I do not have Fast Boot enabled.
There is an option in the BIOS to Wake PC from S5 (which is a full Windows Shutdown) and you can then give it a Day/time etc. - but unfortunately not more than one 'routine' (e.g. 5am on a Moday, 12am on a Sun etc,). This works OK - but doesn't work for the 'less sleepy' Hibernating PC?
Why is that - can it be added?
Otherwise, how do I wake a Hibernating NUC at a specific time?
Thanks!

Hello SJW
Thank you for posting in the Intel Community.
I recommend looking into Intel® NUC Does Not Wake Up When Scheduled to review the operating system and BIOS settings to wake up the Intel® NUC on a specific time.
I hope this helps.

Hello SJW
Thank you for waiting, you should be able to wake the system from hibernation (S4) by setting the Wake on LAN (WOL) and sending the wake package on a specific time.
Please refer to the Intel® NUC Products NUC8i3BE/NUC8i5BE/NUC8i7BE Technical Product Specification (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/mini-pcs/nuc-kits/NUC8i3BE_NUC8i5BE_NUC8i7BE_TechProdSpec.pdf) on page 23 section 1.13.1.2 to see the wake-up devices and events.

Hi Leo,
The reason I want to wake the PC is to do a backup of it to my NAS in the middle of the night.
To make sure I understand right, you are saying the NUC can't wake itself from Hibernation but can wake itself from a full Windows Shutdown - and the proposed solution is to have another device (that is capable of sending a WOL packet) powered on at the time I need the NUC - and to send one to wake the NUC? Really?
Can wake from S4 be requested?
Can you tell me what the table in the link you gave means? It shows RTC Alarm (what I could use) and S3, S4 and S5 are listed.

Hi SJW,
My apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
We tested the wake functions on an equivalent system. and we can get it to wake from S5, but not S4 or S3.
We had to turn off 'Turn on Fast Startup" in the Windows power options screen to get S5 wake up to work.
I am reporting the not waking up issue when the system is in S3/S4 mode and In the meantime, we would recommend that you use S5 instead of S4.
Regards,
Ronny G

Thanks Ronny.
I didn't get a notification of your reply but just saw it now. Hopefully the option for Wake from S4 can be added.
Cheers.

Hello SJW
Yes, using the WOL configuration is a good option for the setting that you want, I am going to submit the feedback on your request to wake the Intel® NUC from S4.
The table is about the devices and the wake options that can be used in those devices. Allow me to look into the RTC alarm use.
