How to update the latest USB 3.0 drivers?

Hi all,

Recently, I purchased a used Dell M6700 mobile workstation (laptop), and in my Device Manager, it is showing me an unknown driver that is marked with a yellow triangle.

The Device ID is follows:

Apparently, this is a Intel(R) USB 3.0 Root Hub driver.

My system is running Windows 7 Professional.

I tried downloading the Driver Assistant but it was of no use and could not detect any drivers that I need to update and I don't know of any way to get the latest driver for this USB 3.0.

Can someone help me? I've already tried downloading some USB 3.0 drivers from Dell but they were all quite old (2013) and did not solve my problem of the unidentified drivers.

Sorry if this is posted to the wrong board but  I did not see anything for laptops. Hope a mod can move it if needed.

Use Dell's driver update,  not IDSA.

There are no updates in Dell that updates these USB 3.0 drivers, except for "older" ones. I've already searched their site completely. There were a couple (also old) ones related to USB 3.0 that could update but they did not do anything apparently.

Maybe the only way is to uninstall the present ones and reinstall the existing ones from Dell even if they are older? I don't know where the previous owner gotten the present USB 3.0 drivers from, or even if they are "legit".

I only got to find out their IDs from seeing what Windows was showing me.

Hello jimlo

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. As the SuperUser mentioned above, in this case the recommended update software is the one provided by the system manufacturer. Most laptop systems use customized drivers based on Intel generic drivers, Dell is responsible for the customized drivers for their systems. If they only provide older versions you can get in contact with them to confirm if a new driver/firmware will be released or which of the drivers provided on their website is recommended.

Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel. Thank you for your understanding.
