I have NUC7i7BNH with Optane Memory and I am upgrading 1.5TB SATA HDD with larger 4TB SATA Drive.

What are correct procedures so as not to lose any data, etc.?

TIA

David

Hello DaveSanderson,

Thank you for joining this Intel Community Support.

I understand that you would like to install a larger SATA drive in your Intel® NUC. I would like to provide more information about this process.

When upgrading a SATA drive in your Intel® NUC with Intel® Optane™ Memory, we recommend disabling the Intel® Optane™ Memory volume using the Intel® Optane™ Memory user interface or the Intel® RST user interface. There is no need to modify BIOS settings since you are upgrading your SATA drive only.

Then, use your preferred third-party cloning or migration software to copy the data from one SATA drive to another. We recommend backing up all of your data before migrating. Intel isn't responsible or liable for data loss or data recovery. After migration is complete, re-enable the Intel® Optane™ Memory volume from Intel® Optane™ Memory user interface or the Intel® RST user interface.

Keep in mind that we recommend performing a clean install of Windows* 10 and install it on the SATA drive.

If you need more details about this process, I will be glad to assist. You can also review the Intel® Optane™ Memory Installation Guide.
