I have a NUC6i7KYK with two Sharp 70in TV, each has a pulse eight CEC on the HDMI input, if both pulse eight USB are connected to the NUC only one video output works, if only one of the USB is connected both video outputs work, any idea why ?

Hello MCobe,

Thank you for submitting your question on this Intel® Community.

To better assist you, we would like to have more information about your system configuration.

  • Are you able to setup single display configurations if you use straight-through connections? i.e. no adapters.

For example:

HDMI* to HDMI* or Mini-DisplayPort* to DisplayPort*?

  • Are you able to setup multiple displays if you use straight-through connections? i.e. no adapters.

For example:

Display Intel® NUC Port     TV/Monitor Port

1     HDMI*       HDMI*

2 Mini-DisplayPort*      DisplayPort*

  • Could you please let us know how you are connecting the USB-CEC Adapters to the Intel® NUC?

For example:

HDMI* to USB-CEC Adapter(HDMI*)

mini-DP* to USB-CEC Adapter(HDMI*)

Hi Wanner,

As we speak in Montreal, much is on lockdown so I cant go on-site, but you could refer to Intel Case #: 04542586 at that moment I was on-site with Intel Support remote. And I also had a case with pulse eight Ticket #9079 ,

If we have direct wiring combinations it always works, HDMI + miniDP or HDMI + USBc or miniDP + USBc the two TV`s get signal

If I add a pulse eight to both TV`s without connecting USB at all every combination works, get signal

If I add a pulse eight to both TV`s connecting any one USB every combination works, get signal

If I add a pulse eight to both TV`s connecting both USB I always get signal from the HDMI but not for the second display

Furthermore If I add a pulse eight to both TV`s connecting any one USB every combination works, get signal, and if I connect the second USB after the NUC has booted, then CEC turns on and off both displays,

I have replaced all, the pulse eight units, the USB cables, the miniDP adaptors, the HDMI cables,

mentioning the USB cables are connected directly to the NUC with only a USB keyboard connected, no other device to be taken into account,

Intel Support had finally proposed replacing the unit (out of stock) or refunding it, our client needed their setup (Zoom room) constantly (as they do remote training from there)

If you check in my Intel ticket you should find specific NUC information.

Hope you have an idea, because I have no clue.

Thanks.

Hello MCobe,

Based on your current configuration, your Intel® NUC is working under design specifications in single and multiple display configurations. However, when using adapters, USB - CEC Adapter or any other adapters, your unit may become unstable and cause the display issues reported on this thread. It is worth mentioning that Intel cannot guarantee that these adapters are going go work because we cannot test all the adapters available in the market.

We reviewed the information available at https://www.pulse-eight.com/p/104/usb-hdmi-cec-adapter, but we were unable to confirm if the configuration you are setting up has been validated by the USB - CEC Adapter vendor.

Having said that, please review the recommendations we can provide in this scenario:

  • Once you have access to the unit, make sure BIOS, OS, drivers, etc., are up to date.
  • Contact Intel Customer Support in your region to replace the unit (if possible)
  • Contact the USB - CEC Adapter vendor to make sure the configuration you are using, PC + two monitors + two adapters, has been tested.
