Hi, I have an Intel NUC NUC7i5DNBE that I have attached to a quadrotor. I recently was making a change to the frame on which the NUC was attached and while reinstalling it, I broke a part that has "NEK eN8" written on it. Please see the black circled area in "Intel_nuc_broken.jpg" The other picture shows that part itself. It is probably some capacitor but I could not search it online. The NUC is working fine even now.
Can you please tell me what does this thing do and not having it wont affect the NUC later? If it does, is there a way I can replace it?

Hello IYada, I just received an update on this matter.
The part that you are referring to is a capacitor, the description is Neocapacitor 2.5V. The manufacturer is NEC/Tokin.
In this case, the best thing to do will be to get in contact with someone to desolder and clear the pins from the PCB holes and replace the capacitor.
Just to let you know, this is considered customer induce damage and for this specific scenario, we provide no warranty or repair on issues like this.
What could happen without it is really unknown, but capacitors are used to condition or filter noise from the power supply so this may affect other components attached to the board: Processors, Memory or SSD.
Any questions, please let me know.

Hi Alberto,
Thanks for your reply. I understand about the warranty. I will have to find someone who would replace it and so have no other option but to use it for the time being. Is there any more specification you have for that capacitor, I see a lot of Neocapacitors for 2.5V.

Hi Indrajeet,
Unfortunately, that's the only information I have available for this capacitor, more specification about this component is out of the scope of support we provide.
Perhaps by reaching out to the manufacturer of the capacitor, you can get the information that you are looking for.
