Hi
I am suffering from Intel Display Audio speaker configuration with only "stereo output" config. thru. HDMI to Amplifier with Win10 (18362).
Speaker config. was able to config as "5.1 ch output" before win10 updated. Tried to use old drivers but doesn't help.
Is there a method to configure speaker output to 5.1ch in Intel Display Audio driver manually?

HYang29, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.
For this type of scenario, in order to try to fix his issue, we recommend to install the latest BIOS version that for the Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i5BEH is 0078:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29453/BIOS-Update-BECFL357-86A-?product=126148
Additionally, please install the latest Intel® Graphics driver for the Intel® NUC which is version 26.20.100.7985:
There is also an HDMI firmware update version 1.77 to install:
We also recommend to check your TV and AV receiver manufacturer websites to see if there are firmware updates available for them.
What is the model of the Amplifier?
Please describe how the Intel® NUC, amplifier and screen are connected.
In the following link, you will find additional details to set up the 5.1 audio configuration:

Actually I tried with your BKC but doesn't help. My receiver is Pioneer sc-71.
Here is my setup only has 2 channel config:
NUC-> Receiver (input1) -> Receiver (output2) -> Projector (ps: receiver output1 is connected to TV)
Changed to below setup then 5.1 ch config can be selected.
NUC-> Receiver (input1) -> Receiver (output1) -> Projector (this setup need to remove TV from receiver output port)
So my question will be can driver just open all configurations to user no matter user's speaker type(even with headphones)?

Hi HYang29, Thank you very much for providing that information.
Just to confirm, you said you tried the BKC, could you please provide a further description of this scenario?
Do you have the option to provide us with a screenshot for us to be able to confirm how the devices are connected and the type of cables that are being used?

Albert R.

HYang29, Thank you very much for sharing those details.
Just to let you know, the problem could be related to the HDMI signal, for testing purposes, could you please install HDMI Firmware update version 1.73 and let us know the results:
If the problem persists after that, please provide the SSU report, to attach the report, once you choose "reply" select the "clip" icon on the lower-left corner.

Hello HYang29, Thank you very much for letting us know those results.
Just to let you know, the reason why we suggested to roll back the HDMI firmware version to 1.73, was because the 5.1 output should work the same even if the projector source amplifier HDMI output port is “output2” or “output1”, if they are using the same HDMI standard, then they should work the same. Also, we recommended to do the HDMI roll back as well since you mentioned that the speaker configuration was able to use "5.1 ch output" before Windows* 10 was updated, so, for testing porpuses, we wanted to confirm if the behavior was the same after downgraded the HDMI firmware update.
Thank you very much once again for providing those upates, we really hope that the problem got fixed and that now you can use the "5.1 ch output" configuration as previously, before doing the Windows* updates.
Any other inquiries, do not hesitate to contact us again.

Albert R.

Hello community,
I am a user of a newly installed NUC7PJYH with a Windows 10 Pro (64), the updated BIOS and the driver package offered by Intel for this model.
I also have the HDMI problem. My LG TV sends the audio directly to a Yamaha HTR5640RDS AV receiver that detects 5.1 when I play movies but does not detect 5.1 from my Steam games.
In the audio icon on the desktop (bottom right), the 5.1 and 7.1 options appear in the right-click menu, but cannot be selected. They are like disabled. In the sound devices properties (Intel Display Audio device), in "configuration" only the "stereo" option appears in the drop-down menu (where the rest of the options should also appear).
Have I forgotten to install something on the HDMI?
Do I also have to install the "HDMI firmware version 1.73 / 1.77"?
Thank you and congratulations on your work.
