Thought I'd take it for a spin and see what is reported.
The version I have installed is:
Radeon Settings Version - 1.0.2.1
Driver Packaging Version - 18.10-180529a-329460E-Intel-Corporation

Just answered it myself.
The Support Assistant is triggering off of the date of the driver, not the driver version.
I'm on 18.6.1 but the date of that driver is June 16, and the one reported as newer is June 21.
When 18.5.1 was updated because of all the complaints, it got a newer date than 18.6.1. Seems rather strange to me.

I'm not reverting. Version 18.6.1 works just fine at the moment
