Intel Driver and support assistant: NUC Drivers for not NUC Computer

Hi there,

Today I'v recieved a notification of the "drivers and support assistant"-software for 2 drivers of Management Engine and Serial IO Driver.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/de/de/download/751901/intel-management-engine-driver-for-consumer-...

https://www.intel.com/content/www/de/de/download/752072/intel-serial-io-driver-for-intel-nuc-kit-nuc...

As I can see, these drivers are only for NUC Computers and in my opinion these drivers dont match my current system.

So my question is, can I do these updates and why do I get notified about drivers that dont fit my pc-setup?

Hello logicnr3,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

I am sorry you are having issues with Intel® Driver & Support Assistant. I will be glad to assist you.

Please do not install these updates on your system, as you mentioned, those are for specific Intel NUC models.

I am going to investigate about these notifications, as they should not be appearing for your system. As soon as I have an update, I will let you know.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Best regards,

Thank you Steven for your fast response.

Today I've seen that these notifications are no longer shown in the assistant tool.

Same problem here:

https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-NUCs/ALC1220-NUC13RNG/td-p/1441212

I made the mistake of trying to install this proposed update, and even though that was unsuccessful there is now a trace for it still showing as unknown install.

Hello logicnr3,

Please try clearing the browser cache and check if the notifications still appear.

As well, be aware that Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA) can detect and offer upgrades for many of the drivers and software that are available on our Intel Download Center, so you need to make sure your product/device is compatible with IDSA by checking this page https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000032252/software/software-applications.ht...

We recommend going to the OEM to look for the customized driver update tool designed for your system. You may uninstall IDSA to prevent undesirable updates.

Please see Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA) Basic Operations: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000056649/software/software-applications.ht...

Let me know if you have any further concerns.

Best regards,

Hi Steven,

Thank you for your help.

The notifications did disappear even without clearing the browser cache. Nevertheless I did clear the cache afterwards and the good thing is that the installation history is now working properly as you can see in the attached image becaus its something I didnt see before.

My OEM is Medion and yes they offer a basic service app but it seems that they dont support driver updates in general or only through windows updates. For me DSA worked properly but I will double check for new updates to ensure the compatibility.

The link for the DSA-compatibility check links to a page that seems to be empty or under construction just fyi.
