Hey DukeNUCem, Thank you very much for providing that information.
I looked on the TPS (Technical Product Specification) for the Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit - NUC9i9QNX in order to verify the details you are requesting about the fans on the unit. However, there is no documentation stating if it is possible to adjust the two case fans on the top manually, and neither about the regulation of the RPMs:
https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/intel-nuc/nuc-kits/NUC9QN_TechProdSpec.pdf
Based on that, I will do further research on this topic to try to find and confirm those aspects of your Intel® NUC. As soon as I get any updates, I will post all of them on this thread.

Albert R.

Hello DukeNUCem, I just received an update on this matter.
We just wanted to let you know that after reviewing the case, we can confirm, based on the fact that there is no option in the BIOS and that the unit is not compatible with the Intel® NUC Software Studio, that the fans cannot be manually adjusted or regulated on this specific device.

Is it possible for Intel to supply information on how the fans respond, how they are programmed to respond or when and what they respond to?
Is it also possible to apply support for this in Intel® NUC Software Studio?
Is it possible for me to submit an application to intel for a fix for this so that you guys can implement case fan control in th next bios update (74)? Should be pretty straight forward coding adding this control as it do regulate based on load or temp?

Hello DukeNUCem, I just received an update on this matter.
In reference to your inquiries:
-Is it possible for Intel to supply information on how the fans respond, how they are programmed to respond or when and what they respond to?
Hardware monitoring subsystem, based on an embedded controller, including:
• Voltage sense to detect out of range power supply voltages
• Thermal sense to detect out of range thermal values
• One processor fan header
• One chassis fan header
• Fan sense input used to monitor fan activity
• Fan speed control
-Is it also possible to apply support for this in Intel® NUC Software Studio?
Intel® NUC Software Studio is implemented in different models, this specific one is not included. However, we can always ask for it to be implemented but we cannot promise anything or provide a date on when this will happen.

Yes, sure, we can always provide the feedback you shared with us on this topic, but as with your previous request, we cannot promise anything or provide a date on when this will occur.

thank you for your thorough response!
I hope that you guys at intel will continue to work on this matter and make it possible to control the case fans in the bios as this exceptional piece of brilliant engineering from Intel that the NUC 9 Extreme (nuc9i9qnx) is really deserves it.
Best regards
