Hi All
do i understand correctly that the wiring between the serial port header (H) and the DB9 connector is straight. like the diagram below.

Are the Serialport inputs tolerant to +/-12v rs232 signal levels

The layout for a standard 9-pin serial port connector is as follows:
Per the TPS for the TN NUCs,
As you can see, it is definitely a straight-through connection from header to connector.
AFAIK, this is a TTL-level (+/-5V) serial port implementation, not a full RS232c (+/-12V) implementation. I base this premise on the fact that all previous implementations in the NUC series were TTL-level implementations. Unfortunately, AFAICS, the TPS does not properly detail the port's implementation. I have send an email to the design team for clarification. I will respond here once I have a response.

So I was correct; they described its requirements as "RS232 complaint, 5V drivers, +/-25V tolerant, support for 115.2Kb/s".

Thanks for the quick answer.
So serial outputs are at 5v and inputs will tollerate/survive +/-12v

Yes. The question becomes whether the other end will be tolerant of only receiving 5V. I have had mixed results myself when using these to try to communicate with older (ok, ancient) hardware.
