Hello,
I hope you this post finds you well.
I recently purchased an Intel NUC M15 Laptop Kit EVO LAPRC710. Here are some thoughts I want to share:
- Overall
- The build feels very sturdy without compromising on weight too much
- Reminds me of the build of a MacBook Pro 15 inch
- The charger is very nice, it's a good length by default and seems easy to change in the future!
- Speakers and camera perform similar to comparable systems, perhaps a bit better, pleased with them!
- The build feels very sturdy without compromising on weight too much
- Trackpad
- Initially felt too small in the y-axis (for vertical scrolling), but it is surprisingly a non-issue, nice work!
- Keyboard
- At 15inch, it's unfortunate that a dedicated numpad wasn't incorporated into the design, which is very useful for going between numbers and text (the integrated one is a bit of a hassle)
- Would be great if we could collaborate to make different keyboard layouts (e.g. Canadian French, which resembles the US layout enough so that the casing does not need to be different)
- Light bar
- A nifty unique addition!
- It's great that we can specifically set the colour down to the RGB values!
- Operating System
- Works flawlessly with Windows 11
- Experiencing driver issues with Windows 10, e.g. Windows Update is not fetching the driver for Realtek audio, currently investigating
- Tried it on a few Linux-based systems (i.e. Ubuntu and Pop!_OS to start) to see
- Wi-Fi was slower than on Windows 11, but nothing to complain about and when plugged in with external ethernet, full speeds are experienced
- Bluetooth seems ok
- Camera doesn't work at all
- No audio/mic, even after trying the fix for `alsa-base.conf` from: https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-NUCs/NUC10i5-headphones-jack-audio-not-working-with-Ubuntu-20-04/td-p/643946
- Would be splendid if the drivers could be provided for Linux, please let me know if I can help with development and testing on this front!
Thank you kindly,
Patrick T.
