I would love for Intel to fix this issue. They can then tell NVIDIA how to do so and stop it from happening on my tower PC.

Hello clivo,

Thank you so much for your reply and the information provided.

Based on the report that you attached your BIOS and Graphic Driver(s) seem to be out of date, which could be the reason of the Re-size issue that you are experiencing.

Please go ahead and use the following links in order to update your system and let us know the outcome:

BIOS Update Instructions:

After that, please make sure that you have the latest Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on you OS.

Then please go ahead and install the latest Graphic Drivers (Manually) by following these instructions:

Hi Diego,

I've undated the BIOS.

For the graphics I downloaded the zip file. When I went to install the driver, the system advises I've got the best driver already installed.

Please see enclosed.

Regards,

Clive

Hello Clivo,

Thank you for your response.

I am very glad to hear that you were able to successfully update the BIOS. In this case please go ahead and disregard that message "best driver already installed."

Based on the SSU Report and the screenshots attached, you have the 4877, the latest driver as shared before, is 4901.

Can you please uninstall (manually) the current one (4877) from device manager and give it a try again?

As well, is there a chance for you to perform a clean installation of Windows?

I hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,

Diego S.

Hi Diego,

all of the suggestion carried out, yet the issue still persists!

I'd really rather not do clean installation of Windows again, there's so much I'd need to rebuild...

Thanks,

Clive

Hello EncryptionX,

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it.

I understand that reinstalling Windows might be little bit complicated,

While performing further research about your issue, I was able to find the official thread for this specific error, which is under investigation between Microsoft and our management.

Apparently this situation occurs due to an OS design. The OS is not storing and persisting the window size and placement upon the disconnection of some display devices. Our driver is reporting a plug event correctly to the OS, but without persistence windows shift and move to the primary display. Other manufacturers may work around this through their own driver implementations.

At the moment the investigation is on 'hold' while our teams gather more information in order to get the issue fixed.

Here you will find the original thread:

/thread/102871?start=45&tstart=0 https://communities.intel.com/thread/102871?start=45&tstart=0

All the most recent posts will be posted there so I strongly recommend you to post your issue there and to follow the thread in order to get the latest updates about your case.

On the meantime I will send this thread to the team in charge of the investigation, however as shared before, all the relevant answers about the resize will be posted on the original case.

I hope this helps,

Best Regards,

Diego S
