Intel NUC RNUC11BTMI70002 PSU upgrade and 3080Ti compatibility

Good evening everyone,

I am thinking about buying a NUC11 with i7. What baffles me is that it has only 650W. How can it possibly pull a 3080 or 3080Ti?

To this topic I have some quotestions:

Am I able to upgrade the PSU to 750 - 850W?

Will the CPU thermo throttle when 2,2 slot GPU installed?

Does anyone have any experience running this machine with 3080Ti?

Thanks a lot for your answers

Tony

Hi Apex, PS is specialized & cannot be upgraded. I’m running a Nvidia RTX3080 founders edition without any issues (NUC11BTMI9). However I’m not a big gamer, only Fornza Horizon 5.
I choose the 10g 3080fe cause the power is 320W. The TI is 350W, which is the max rating for the NUC11BTMI9.
Runs great. Had to position the gpu power cables to the inside of the card to get the nuc top to close.

Hi Amphi,

thanks a lot for the reply. I have had some memory trace that I have heard somewhere that the PSU is unique to the NUC. In that case it is a no go for myself. That is a shame I really wanted to try this one.

Actually the GPU restrictions are not that bad. You can run most of 3080 and some 3080Tis. I have been more concerned about the "Juice stream" flowing nicely without any disruptions.
