I purchased a new Intel NUC 10i7FNH4 recently and it is randomally shutting down for no reason. I have tried updating to latest bios and updating the drivers. I also double checked that the ram and hard drives are correctly connected. I have also set the fan profile to Cool in the bios. I installed a program to check the core temps and all seems fine. Any suggestions?
So, based on that, two possibilities come to mind:
- You have a part, somewhere in the power circuitry of the NUC or in the Power Supply (PSU) itself, that is starting to fail. When it gets hot enough, it trips the NUC's power. Disconnecting A/C power would give it enough time to cool off to point where it works again.
- You have a ground loop forming. Disconnecting A/C power would kill the ground loop for a while.
For either of these problems, you likely need to replace the unit or its PSU. If you are still within its warranty period, I would say that it is time to contact intel directly and get this unit replaced.
After verifying that your warranty is still active (here: Determine if Your Product Is Still Under Warranty), you need to directly contact Intel Customer Support to initiate the RMA process (you cannot do this through the forums).
