We have more than 10 NUC's running currently "NUC11PAHI5" (11th Gen), all of them suddenly got restarted with no user consent or notice.
Event ID: 1005 "The Windows Installer initiated a system restart to complete or continue the configuration of 'Intel(R) SUR QC Software Asset Manager'."
Above mentioned event shown in event viewer logs.

This is part of the "Intel Computing Improvement Program". This gets installed if you accept joining this program when you install "Intel Driver Support Assistant". You can remove this from the Add/Remove Programs control panel. Most likely was the IDSA tool had an update that required the system to reboot to finish installing.

Hello ForumResearcher
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. To investigate this request, please share with us the the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) results of one of the affected units:
- Download the Intel SSU https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-
- Open the application and select "Everything" click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".
- Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
- To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".

This happened to me today, forced restart with no warning in the middle of a meeting. Given that this was first reported two weeks ago, it's absolutely unacceptable. Came here looking for a way to supply feedback but apparently there is not one. Have been part of the experience improvement program for a long time but will be uninstalling the process from all machines because it creates business risk that cannot be afforded.

As mentioned by @MRoss5200 my understanding is that "Intel System Usage Report (SUR)" is just telemetry that is sent to Intel and If I am correct, it is part of the "Intel(R) Driver Update Utility".
If you want to remove it, go ahead and remove IDSA from your system and I will report your feedback to the IDSA team, I apologize for the inconvenience.

Ronny G

This also happened to me today. No notice, just a reboot. My solution (I hope it works) is to uninstall all Intel software and purchase AMD next time.

Hello ForumResearcher
Our team investigated this issue and found it was due to a recent server side change we made on September 13 that triggered a Intel SUR QC Software Asset Manager self-upgrade on machines with ICIP installed. We have reverted the change on the server side to prevent triggering any self-upgrade and users will no longer see this issue.
Thank you for your patience and for notifying us of this issue. It wasn't our intent to have this software cause the systems to reboot.
