Intel NUC7i TB3/USB-C Port Still Powered After Shutdown/Hibernate

When the computer is shutdown or hibernated, the USB-C/TB3 port is still powered.

In BIOS I turned off USB Power for Yellow port, and enabled Deep S4/S5, but still not resolved.

I have eGPU (Aorus Gaming Box) connected to TB3, and the fan keeps on even after shutdown. I have to unplug the NUC and the fan would then stop.

Hello popoxee,

I understand that the USB-C is still letting the power go through even when the unit is turned off, I apologize for any inconvenience.

Regarding this, To better assist you with your request, I will need to check some information about your computer. Please follow these steps:

1. In the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.

2. In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.

3. Click on Save All Information (save it in your desktop).

4. Attach the report to this thread.

Hello popoxee,

Thank you for your response,

I was able to do some research and I would like to know if you disabled the charging through the USB ports as shown in the image attached.

This is just to make sure and see if this could resolve your problem.

Hello popoxee,

Thank you for your response,

Another step I would like to try right now is to update the BIOS version that you currently have. Upon review of the "DxDiag" you currently have the BIOS version 0060, and right now the latest one is the 0062. You can find the latest BIOS version here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27571/NUCs-BIOS-Update-BNKBL357-86A-?product=95067 BIOS 0062

You can refer to the link below for steps on how to perform the BIOS update:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005636/mini-pcs.html BIOS update instructions

Once this is installed, please try to check if the box remains powered even after shutdown, let us know the outcome.

I updated the BIOS to 0062 and this problem still remains. I believe it could be a bug.

I no longer own this unit. You can close this.

I got a new Skull Canyon and does not experience this anymore.
